Mrs Réka Kiss Földváry, President of Committee of National Remembrance and Pál Fodor, Director General of the Research Centre for the Humanities, Hungarian Academy of Sciences signed a cooperation agreement on 28th August 2014, according to which the two institutions will seek to develop and implement programmes together. According to the five-year-long agreement the Office of the Committee of National Remembrance and the Research Centre for the Humanities, HAS agreed to establish the Regional History Research Team which is directly below the director general of Research Centre for the Humanities, Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The head of the research team is József Ö. Kovács, historian, lecturer at Pázmány Péter Catholic University and research professor of Research Centre for the Humanities, Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The agreement between Research Centre for the Humanities, HAS and the Committee of National Remembrance commences on 1st September and is valid for five years. It provides The Research Centre with the opportunity to rely on research groups with fellow researchers from the country in organising its activity. The research team on interdisciplinary can plug a gap in the research on 20th century history. The focus of their research is on the social historical events that brought about structural changes from the 1940, including the analysis of problems tracing them back to WWI.
