Kecskemét Television Launches a Television Programme Series with the Committee

As collaboration between the Committee of National Remembrance and the Kecskemét Médiacentrum, a new unprecedented programme series will be broadcast from April. In the programme survivors will talk about the influence the communist dictatorship had on their lives, how the traumas they suffered affected their later lives.

At the press conference on 25th April 2017 in the City Hall of Kecskemét Áron Máthé, vice-chair of NEB emphasized the importance of investigating the events in local communities. He also underlined that the interviews were not only aimed at collecting data for academic purposes, but to reinforce relationships among different generations. János Bán, chief editor of the Kecskemét Médiacentrum said: the interviews will be part of an hour-long programme with the title "Élő emlékezet" [Vivid Remembrance]. The medium considers it an important task to preserve the reminiscence of the older generation living in the county. We are in the twenty-fourth hour to record these personal stories, as a lot of the survivors are no longer with us. Csaba Hajagos, researcher of NEB, associate historian-museologist of Katona József Museum in Kecskemét is the editor and the moderator of the investigative programme. The historian talked about the synopsis of the programme, saying that 27 life paths will be portrayed. "Our aim is to make these interviews part of the public educational curriculum, to raise young people’s interest in the events of recent history"  he emphasized. Imre Hörcsök, representative of the local government, emphasized at the press conference that the Kecskemét Médiacentrum is filling a gap by examining the local history and making these events available to the public.

At the press conference the media centre also presented the latest issue of 'Hírös históriák', its magazine on local history.
